Camden Council

Location :
Camden Local Government Area

Nova Group Pacific were engaged by Camden Council to conduct a Water Quality Monitoring Program (WQMP) across multiple water bodies within the Camden Local Government Area (LGA). This monitoring program covers 20 sites, including five Nepean River locations, ten freshwater lakes, and five lowland rivers.

The goal of the WQMP is to assess water quality parameters, ensure the suitability of the water bodies for recreational use, and monitor the environmental health of Camden’s waterways. The program also provides data to help Camden Council develop environmental strategies and track trends in water quality across the LGA.

Description of Services

A) Physical-Chemical Water Quality Monitoring

Conducted water sampling and analysis of critical parameters such as pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and chlorophyll a.

B) Biological and Microbiological Water Quality Monitoring

Carried out biological sampling, analysing macroinvertebrates for SIGNAL SF (Stream Invertebrate Grade Number - Level 1), abundance, and taxa richness to assess waterway health.

Performed microbiological water sampling to detect Enterococci organisms and cyanobacteria (Blue-green algae) concentrations, which are essential indicators for recreational water quality and environmental health.
