Somersby Remediation Project

Somersby Remediation Project

Nova Group Pacific has been engaged to deliver a range of environmental consulting services at an industrial site in the Somersby region of New South Wales.

The project has involved multiple phases of investigation and assessment to support ongoing site management and future development. Our scope of work has included detailed site characterisation, stockpile assessments, soil delineation, and classification of waste materials in accordance with relevant NSW environmental regulations and guidance. These works were initiated in response to historical site activities and legacy waste issues, and have played a critical role in informing remediation strategies and environmental risk management.

Description of Services

Field activities included intrusive drilling and sampling across multiple areas of the site, supported by comprehensive laboratory analysis of soil samples. Key objectives were to delineate fill material, assess compliance with waste classification criteria, and provide clear guidance on the segregation and management of identified materials. Outcomes were documented in a series of technical reports to support planning, remediation, and regulatory engagement.

Specific Challenges

The site presented several challenges typical of legacy industrial operations, including variable fill quality and the presence of anthropogenic materials. Historical issues required careful assessment and clear documentation to ensure compliance and support future development. Nova Pacific’s work has enabled informed decision-making and practical environmental management tailored to the site’s complex history and future use.
